**The Opportunity**

The School of Chemistry at Monash University, is a leading institution in Australia renowned for its research excellence and postgraduate training. The Level A Research Fellow will be responsible for:

- The conduct of research under limited supervision either as a member of a team or, where appropriate, independently and the production or contribution to the production of conference and seminar papers and publications from that research
- Limited administrative functions primarily connected with the area of research of the academic
- Development of a limited amount of research-related material for teaching or other purposes with appropriate guidance from other staff
- Occasional contributions to teaching in relation to their research project(s)
- Experimental design and operation of advanced laboratory and technical equipment or conduct of advanced research procedures
- Attendance at meetings associated with research or the work of the organisational unit to which the research is connected and/or at departmental, school and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a limited number of committees
- Advice within the field of the staff member's research to postgraduate students
- a doctoral qualification in Chemistry, Materials Science or a closely related field
- Proven experience in designing, constructing, and investigating electrochemical devices (galvanic or electrolytic). Experience with battery design and characterization preferred.
- Strong expertise in instrumental electrochemistry and the characterization of (electro)materials.
- Record of successful manuscript preparation and peer-reviewed research publications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports, research papers, and deliver formal and informal presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, University-specific software, and willingness to learn new software. Desirable skills include statistical analysis, database usage, and advanced data analysis/plotting software (e.g., Origin, IGOR).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring honours or postgraduate students.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to solve complex problems using innovation, discretion, and expert diagnostic skills.
