About Us:
CatholicCare Tasmania is the primary social services agency of the Catholic Church across Tasmania. We have 60 years' experience delivering a wide range of services and support to improve individual, family and community wellbeing. CatholicCare Tasmania's Inspire at Home Program provides therapeutic residential care for young people aged 12 to 18, referred by Child Protection Services. The program offers a healing, trauma-informed environment to support young people in overcoming life challenges and developing essential life skills. As part of the Child and Youth Services stream, Inspire at Home program contributes to improving the wellbeing of children and families across Tasmania.
The Role:
The Placement Lead plays a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, therapeutic care for children and young people in residential settings. Working closely with stakeholders and therapeutic specialists, the role ensures a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes life skills, education, and meaningful connections.
This role requires a compassionate, organised, and proactive leader committed to trauma-informed, relational, and therapeutic care aligned with CatholicCare Tasmania's values and model of care.
How you will make an impact
* Provide visible, supportive leadership to residential care teams.
* Lead operations in alignment with program model of care, relevant legislation, and organisational policies.
* Oversee the implementation and review of therapeutic care plans.
* Guide staff in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) practices.
* Support transitions into and out of care placements.
* Support assessments and planning for young people in care.
* Provide reflective supervision, mentoring, and performance management.
* Manage rostering and staffing across designated homes.
* Support recruitment, induction, and ongoing professional development.
* Manage daily operations including resource allocation and budget adherence.
* Respond to crises and proactively manage risks.
* Participate in rotational on-call support for house teams.
Essential Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, or a related field (minimum Diploma level; Degree preferred).

* Share an example of how you've managed a crisis or high-risk situation in a residential care environment. What strategies did you use to ensure safety and stability?
* How do you foster a positive team culture and maintain staff motivation in a dynamic and challenging work environment?
* Describe your experience with operational responsibilities such as rostering, budgeting, and compliance. How do you balance resource management with quality care delivery?
