About the Role
We are seeking a commercially astute and hands‐on Financial Controller to join our growing manufacturing business.
This is not a purely desk‐based accounting role. You will be embedded in operations, partnering closely with production, procurement and leadership to drive margin performance, cost control, capital expenditure, inventory, cash flow discipline, payroll and HR administration and operational improvement.
Key Responsibilities Capital Expenditure (CapEx)
* Evaluate CapEx proposals including return on investment, payback period, and risk assessment
* Track CapEx spend against approved budgets and forecasts
* Conduct post implementation reviews to confirm expected financial and operational outcomes
Cash Flow and Working Capital
* Manage working capital with focus on inventory turns, receivables, and payables
* Prepare cash flow forecasts and support banking and funding requirements
Costing, Inventory and Margin Analysis
* Own and maintain product costing models including standard and actual costing
* Analyse material, labour, and overhead variances and explain outcomes to operations
* Monitor inventory valuation, slow moving stock, obsolete stock, and cycle count accuracy
* Partner with production and procurement to improve margin performance
* Identify and track cost reduction opportunities across materials, labour, overheads, waste, scrap, rework, and energy usage
* Build business cases to support cost reduction initiatives
* Support pricing decisions using cost to serve and margin analysis
Systems and Process Improvement
* Take a hands on role in ERP and financial systems supporting manufacturing and costing
* Improve reporting accuracy, timeliness, and usability
* Support system implementations, upgrades, and data integrity initiatives
Reporting and KPIs
* Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts
* Monitor inventory accuracy, valuation, and inventory turns
* Provide visibility of cost variances and support margin improvement
* Maintain budget and forecast accuracy
* Track CapEx return on investment outcomes
* Support audit and compliance requirements
* Contribute financial insight into safety, quality, and productivity improvements
Payroll and HR Administration
* Manage payroll processing ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality
* Ensure compliance with awards, agreements, and statutory requirements
* Maintain employee master data across payroll and HR systems
* Support onboarding, offboarding, contract variations, and employee record management
* Support workforce cost analysis, labour budgeting, and headcount reporting
* Support WHS administration including training records, licences, inductions, and incident documentation
* Assist with workers compensation reporting and safety cost analysis
* Support integration of safety metrics into workforce and financial reporting
About You
You are commercially focused, detail oriented, and comfortable working closely with operational teams. You bring strong manufacturing finance experience and enjoy improving systems, processes, and reporting visibility.
