About The Service: Aboriginal Health Worker – Champion Culturally Safe Care in Our Community. Aboriginal Health Workers support health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, bridging cultural connections and delivering culturally safe health services in our rural community. 
What You'll Be Doing: The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician provides recovery-focused, person-centered and culturally competent services including assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison, advocacy and review as part of the multidisciplinary team for clients with mental illness, distress, and/or risk issues. 
Identification: This is an identified position in accordance with Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Aboriginal applicants must demonstrate Aboriginality in addition to addressing the selection criterion. 
Selection Criteria: 
- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and have knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with links to the local community. 
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Bachelor of Health Science - Mental Health) or qualifications and current registration with AHPRA for Nurses, Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers. 
- Ability to provide high-quality, safe, holistic, person-centered care promoting self-determination within a recovery framework. 
- Solid communication skills with the ability to engage with consumers, families and carers and other stakeholders. 
- High level computer skills including Electronic Medical Records and Microsoft Office programs. 
- Knowledge of Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs strategic directions, and related legislation and policies (Mental Health Act 2007). 
- Current unrestricted driver’s licence with ability to travel and possibly overnight stays.
