A competitive salary applies which include:-

* Base salary between $216,643 and $274,678 (plus 50%)
* MVA
* PDA
* Rural attraction and retention allowance (5% base salary)
* Location Allowance
* Salary packaging options also apply to allow you to maximise your income.

What you'll do

* Deliver expert Anatomical Pathology services that make a difference by providing timely, efficient, and high-quality diagnostic and consultation services that are both cost-effective and tailored to meet the clinical needs of referrers across Queensland.
* Play a key role in shaping the future of Anatomical Pathology by helping to design and implement strategic frameworks grounded in global best practices.
* Supervise and support registrars, fostering their growth and ensuring the highest standards of professional development.
* Engage actively in discipline-specific meetings, departmental discussions, and multidisciplinary team forums—building strong partnerships and ensuring alignment with client needs.

About you

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

* Demonstrated contemporary knowledge, skills and ability in Anatomical Pathology, participate in the frozen section service, perform MDTs, be able to participate in the after-hours on call roster, and a high level of professionalism required in the position, especially objectivity.
* Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills necessary for all aspects of the position.
* Demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct relevant training, teaching, research, investigation, analysis and management
* Knowledge of the ISO 15189 and NATA Medical Testing Requirements demonstrating continued accreditation in your clinical specialty for all laboratories across a diverse network

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

* Mandatory requirements are a medical qualification and tertiary qualification in Anatomical Pathology (FRCPA, or equivalent) and be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist Pathologist.
* The incumbents must be Fellows of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent.

PQ is critical to the delivery of healthcare in Queensland and with a multidisciplinary team of 2,000 people, we're involved in 70 per cent of all medical decisions and in all cancer diagnoses. With a strong research and clinical improvement culture, we also support more than 450 point-of-care testing devices, extending access to care in more places.

On top of a generous base salary, medical practitioners also receive additional allowances including motor vehicle, professional development and retention and attraction (50% of base salary). Dependent on location a rural retention and attraction allowance (5% of base salary) and locality allowance may also apply to form the total salary.
