About the Role
Material Recovery Solutions is a specialist in recycling equipment, as the exclusive distributor of Godswill balers in Australia and New Zealand. We design, manufacture, and supply custom-built recycling systems, including conveyors, sorting lines, trommels, balers, and related machinery for efficient material recovery and handling.
We are seeking a Motivated, hands-on Apprentice Service Technician to join our team. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity to start a rewarding career in mechanical service, maintenance, and equipment manufacturing. You will gain a nationally recognised trade qualification while earning a full-time wage and receiving structured training.
What you'll be doing
As an Apprentice Service Technician, you will be involved in all aspects of our equipment lifecycle, working closely with experienced technicians and the service team. Duties include:
* Assisting in component manufacture by Operating and Maintaining Workshop Fabrication machinery; Water Jet Cutter / Guillotine / Break Press / Saw / Hydraulic Punch / etc.
* Mechanical assembly and fitting of machinery and systems.
* Assisting Installation and commissioning of equipment at customer sites.
* Assisting service, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on balers, conveyors, sorting lines, trommels, and other waste processing machinery.
* Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance your skillset
* Learning to Read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
* Using hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment safely.
* Adhering to strict safety standards and company procedures at all times.
* Contributing to a positive team environment and continuous improvement.
This role offers a mix of workshop-based work and field service opportunities, providing broad exposure across manufacturing, assembly, installation, and ongoing service/support.
What We're Looking For
* Recent school leaver or motivated individual with a strong interest in hands-on mechanical work (completion of Year 10 or higher preferred).
* Enthusiasm for learning, fixing things, and working with machinery/tools.
* Reliable, punctual, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
* Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
* Physically fit and able to handle the demands of workshop and site work (lifting, manual handling).
* Valid Australian driver's license.
* Any pre-apprenticeship, VET subjects, or basic workshop experience is highly regarded
