Senior Engineer - Automation and Robotics
As pioneers in industrial automation and robotics, our Melbourne-based client empowers global manufacturing giants with bespoke machinery and cutting-edge automation solutions.
With a growing workload, they are now looking for an experienced or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who can transform whiteboard visions into tangible, world-class solutions in end-of-line systems, special-purpose machinery, and bespoke robot cells. In this role, you will:
1. Transform initial concepts into detailed designs and drive them through to successful execution.
2. Develop comprehensive manufacturing drawings, including General Arrangements (GAs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
3. Manage and coordinate all engineering activities required for a project's success.
4. Ensure projects are delivered on time, every time.
5. Provide essential engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.
6. Ensure unwavering compliance with Australian Standards.
7. Lend your technical expertise to the design and development of groundbreaking new machines and systems.
8. Provide vital engineering support to the commissioning and validation team for both new and existing equipment.
9. Participate actively in prototyping and research & development initiatives.
10. Contribute actively to the company's quality management systems as a Quality Champion.
11. Liaise effectively with supply chains, partners, and clients as a Collaboration Catalyst.
12. Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
13. Ensure project cost control and design equipment that is fit for purpose.
About you:
1. Possess exceptional command of SolidWorks (currently using 2024 SP2).
2. Hold a tertiary qualification in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
3. Bring at least 5+ years of professional experience as a mechanical designer within manufacturing.
4. Experience with SolidWorks PDM will give you an extra edge.
5. Showcase a portfolio demonstrating your drafting experience.
6. Have a proven track record in machine design.
7. Be capable of steering projects from initial design to successful build.
8. Have a strong understanding of AS4024 Safety and Engineering Standards.

Preferred / not essential:
* Experience with servos and robotics.
* Experience with pneumatics.
* Familiarity with sensor selection.
