About the role
As the Senior Manager, Risk Culture & Capability at Australian Retirement Trust, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping and embedding a high-performing risk culture across the organisation. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll lead the design and delivery of cutting-edge frameworks and programs that drive strong risk behaviours, clear accountability, and uplift capability at every level. This is a high-impact, strategic role where you’ll partner with senior leaders, influence mindsets, and ensure ART not only meets but exceeds regulatory expectations. Key aspects of the role include:
- Lead the development and implementation of ART’s enterprise-wide Risk Culture Strategy and Framework.
- Design and deliver targeted risk capability uplift programs for leaders and staff.
- Champion a values-aligned, transparent risk culture in partnership with executive and frontline leaders.
- Conduct risk culture assessments using qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Define and report on key risk culture metrics to senior leadership and Board committees.
- Collaborate with People & Impact to embed risk capability into talent and leadership programs.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Risk Officer and executive team on culture, governance, and accountability.
- Ensure all initiatives align with APRA standards and regulatory expectations.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of Risk Culture Specialists.
- Drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights and stakeholder feedback.

About you
It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:
- Proven experience designing and delivering culture, leadership, or capability uplift initiatives in complex organisations.
- Strong expertise in developing and using culture measurement tools, surveys, and behavioural diagnostics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a track record of partnering with executive leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of risk management principles, APRA prudential standards (especially SPS 220 and SPS 510), and regulatory expectations.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to Boards and senior executives.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into practical, enterprise-wide implementation plans.
- Experience collaborating with HR, L&D;, and business leaders on people and culture strategies.
- Relevant tertiary and/or post-graduate qualifications in risk management, organisational psychology, business, or a related field (highly regarded).
