The Opportunity
Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the Engineering Team, working alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding results across various projects in the mining and minerals industry.
Based out of our Ascot office, you will work on projects across Australia involving a variety of commodities (gold, copper, iron ore, etc.). There will be some site visits depending on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a project team to achieve design budgets and schedules, providing technical direction and coordination.
* Assist lead designers in developing layouts and conceptual designs.
* Complete detailed mechanical engineering designs and calculations.
* Conduct technical reviews of mechanical drawings and vendor documentation.
* Prepare and/or review data sheets, scopes and tender evaluations for equipment procurement.
* Manage internal and client design reviews, resolving outcomes in a client‐facing role.
* Ensure design compliance with statutory regulations and company standards.
* Ensure designs are fit for purpose, considering cost, constructability, operability, and maintainability.
* Support site construction activities remotely.
* Collaborate with commissioning teams on site.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia.
* Minimum 10 years of technical and practical experience in the design, construction and commissioning of mineral processing plants, with a detailed understanding of multi‐discipline design delivery.
* Knowledge and practical application of design theories, principles and practices, including sizing of conveyors, pumps and other typical mineral processing equipment.
* Ability to provide input into conceptual layouts and designs through to detailed drawings.
* Knowledge of current engineering design standards and practice.
* High level of communication, written, planning and organisational skills.
* Proficient with typical engineering software, particularly Excel, Word and 3D viewing software.
* Experience in both wet and dry plants.
* Hands‐on leader comfortable leading a multi‐skilled project team.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Current National Police clearance.
* White Card.
* Full and unrestricted Australian working rights.
