We are currently seeking an experienced, reliable and hardworking Vineyard Worker to join our team at our Mount Barker Vineyard.Merrebee Estate is a family owned 40 year old 100 acre Vineyard property with over 25 acres of vines.
We are currently restoring and expanding our vineyard to 45 acres to include new varieties with a significant focus on sustainable farming practices using technology.This is a hands-on role and is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoorsThe suitable candidate will be required to live and work in the region; FIFO arrangements are not possible for this role.
Key Responsibilities:General vineyard duties, including planting, pruning, canopy management and harvestingOperating vineyard machinery and equipment safely and effectivelySupporting irrigation and pest/disease control programsCompletion of vineyard maintenance tasksAdherence to workplace health and safety policies and proceduresRecord keeping of operational data as required Essential Skills & Experience:Experience in vineyard work with at least 12 months of full-time recent experienceInstallation, maintenance and repair of vine supports such as trellises, and protective structures such as netting and fencesOperation of farm technology systemsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsPhysically fit and able to perform manual labourPatrolling, inspecting, and reporting on the condition of cropsOperating automated irrigation systemsMaintaining and cleaning farming infrastructure and equipment such as sheds, fences, plant, and water supply and irrigation systems Desirable experienceOperation and support of Agricultural Drone systems (Multispectral and Agricultural spraying/spreading drones)Understanding of farm technology systemsPersonal Attributes:Reliable with a strong work ethicGood communication skillsAttention to detailPositive, proactive "can do" attitudeIf you like working in the viticulture industry and would like to be a part of a small passionate team, please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your experience and interest in the role.
