Overview
We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Managing Counsel, Competition and Regulatory to join our Enterprise Legal team. This role reports to the General Manager, Enterprise Legal and plays a critical role in shaping how nbn navigates complex regulatory and competition landscapes in support of its long-term purpose.
Responsibilities
* Lead a small, highly specialised team and own complex competition and regulatory matters critical to nbn's operations and long-term strategy.
* Provide trusted, senior legal advice across competition law, telecommunications regulation and access regulation.
* Help the organisation navigate a dynamic and highly regulated environment with confidence.
* Work in close partnership with senior stakeholders, bringing clarity to complexity and helping shape decisions that balance regulatory obligations with commercial outcomes.
* Foster a supportive and high-performing team culture where expertise is shared and developed.
* Guide the organisation through change, ensuring regulatory risks are understood, managed thoughtfully, and embedded beyond the immediate team.
A bit about you
* Accomplished legal leader with deep experience across at least two of competition law, access regulation or telecommunications regulation.
* Experience gained in a leading law firm or large regulated organisation.
* Sound judgement, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to lead complex work with minimal oversight while remaining collaborative.
* Post-graduate qualifications in competition law and economics or access regulation will be highly regarded.
* Ability to influence in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and to support a team of specialist expert lawyers.
* Motivated by purpose and drawn to outcomes that matter for customers, communities and Australia's digital infrastructure.
