As the State Safety Manager for the Northern Territory, you will be responsible for driving WHS uplift across two large operational sites with diverse, on-the-ground risks and workforce profiles.
This is a permanent role suited to someone who enjoys being in the field, building strong relationships, and leading by example.
The focus is on coaching operational leaders, managing incident response, and ensuring consistent and effective use of WHS systems and controls. You will not have direct reports but will be the primary WHS leader across the region, working closely with station and property managers to embed ownership and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide coaching and support to station managers and team leaders on WHS leadership
* Lead and support serious incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and lessons are shared
* Conduct audits and spot checks on system use, including inductions, SWMS, inspections, and hazard reporting
* Ensure contractor management procedures are followed and high-risk activities are planned and controlled effectively
* Drive consistency in emergency preparedness and ensure training and drills are completed and reviewed
* Travel regularly between sites and maintain a strong, visible presence across operations
About You:
* 5 to 10 years' experience in WHS roles within high-risk or remote industries such as agriculture, mining, or construction
* Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and codes of practice
* Proven ability to coach, influence, and build trust across operational teams
* Experienced in conducting investigations, running audits, and supporting the practical implementation of WHS systems
* Professional, approachable, and calm under pressure
* Must be based in or willing to relocate to Alice Springs (not a FIFO role)
What’s on Offer:
* $145,000 - $155,000 base salary plus superannuation
* Company vehicle
* Accommodation and meals provided while travelling to sites
* Permanent, full-time position with scope to make a meaningful impact on safety outcomes
* A hands-on leadership role with autonomy, variety, and genuine purpose
If you are ready for a role where you can lead safety in a practical and grounded way, and enjoy working closely with operational teams in regional environments, we encourage you to apply.
