Commercial Advisor Position
This role is part of a larger team responsible for strategic procurement and commercial management. As a Commercial Advisor, you will provide support to team members and contribute to a wide range of legal and commercial activities that impact the organisation.
The position involves reviewing and drafting commercial contracts to ensure the company's interests are protected. This may also include researching government policy, reviewing tender documents, and providing support to client projects as needed.
This position is based in either Canberra or Sydney, with offices located in Braddon, Canberra, and Woolloomooloo, Sydney. The company offers a hybrid working arrangement for all employees, with an expectation to work primarily in the office for the first two months of employment. Afterward, employees may be permitted to work from home depending on requirements and availability.
Key Responsibilities:
* Draft, review, negotiate, and finalise various contracts, including service agreements, confidentiality agreements, teaming agreements, and licensing agreements.
* Provide advice to internal stakeholders on legal and commercial issues, including contract drafting and contract management matters.
* Conduct research and provide input on a wide range of legal issues, including commercial law, corporate law, employment law, intellectual property, and HR.
* Evaluate compliance with laws, regulations, and internal and Government policies.
* Participate in business development activities.
* Assist the Strategic Procurement and Commercial Management team with the review and development of procurement documentation, including responses to requests for tender.
* Liaise with internal Elysium Stakeholders, external Legal Counsel, and Elysium teaming partners.
* Participate in the formulation and drafting of general management policy.
* Collaborate with other departments to maximise commercial opportunities and minimise legal risks.
* Support external consulting projects where appropriate and at the discretion of company management.
Requirements:
* Completed a Law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent), or working towards completion of a Law degree and have a significant level of practical experience in advising on commercial matters.
* Intermediate knowledge of MS Suite.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.

* Able to research and condense information in an easy-to-understand format.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including providing clear, concise advice and input when required.

* Experience in commercial law, preferably within a corporate environment.
* Experience in Government and/or Government-related commercial matters.
* Knowledge of, and interest in, Government Policy and Public Procurement.
* Problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills.
