The Opportunity
Catholic Education South Australia (CESA) is entering an exciting period of innovation aligned to the SACCS strategy Towards 2027: Expanding Horizons and Deepening Practices.
As an Education Advisor: English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD), you will play a leadership role in supporting schools to ensure EALD students are thriving people, capable learners, and leaders for the world God desires.
This role offers the opportunity to work in partnership to influence system‐wide directions, build capability in educators and leaders, and shape high-quality teaching and learning that elevates outcomes for EALD students across South Australia.
We are looking for someone to join our team in a contracted, part-time/job share capacity working 0.4 FTE, until the end of 2026.
Key Responsibilities
* Build the capability of teachers and school leaders to support EALD students to access the curriculum and fully participate in their learning
* Develop deep school-wide understanding of linguistic and cultural factors affecting EALD student learning and wellbeing
* Design, prepare and facilitate targeted professional learning for teachers and leaders
* Lead, model and coach best‐practice pedagogies to strengthen EALD students' English proficiency, including explicit teaching of grammar and subject‐specific language
* Build leadership capacity within schools to sustain high-quality EALD pedagogy from Early Years to Senior Years
* Lead professional learning and knowledge‐building informed by contemporary research and the CESA EALD Strategy to strengthen effective teaching for EALD students
* Facilitate system‐level initiatives aligned with the CESA EALD Strategy and system priorities in Literacy and Numeracy for EALD students
* Analyse and utilise data with schools to understand and improve EALD student learning outcomes
* Provide expert advice on learning design, assessment, moderation and reporting for EALD learners, including the use of LEAP Levels to monitor and describe language growth
* Support schools to build strong partnerships with parents, families and communities
About You
We are looking for an individual who has:
* A tertiary degree appropriate to this position of leadership and consultancy
* Teaching qualifications and current teacher registration in South Australia
* Ability to work collaboratively within teams and across networks
* High-level organisational skills with demonstrated ability to plan strategically, problem solve, prioritise, work to deadlines to achieve quality outcomes, give attention to detail and relate tasks/actions to a broader strategic improvement context
* High-level written and oral communication, interpersonal skills
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders
