The Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning (DELWP) employs more than 4,800 staff in 91 locations across the state and brings together Victoria's climate change, biodiversity protection, resource recovery, water, energy, land management, planning and forest and fire management functions into a single department.
VicGrid is a division in DELWP's Energy Group that co-ordinates the planning and development of Victoria's Renewable Energy Zones (REZs), including overseeing investments to strengthen the transmission grid and unlock the potential of REZs. VicGrid is facilitating major transmission network upgrades in Victoria and implementing transmission planning reforms through the Victorian Transmission Investment Framework, which includes the development and delivery of transmission infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the Director of Project Delivery, the Technical Lead - Transmission is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of large and sophisticated transmission projects during feasibility, concept, construction, and commissioning to ensure that new generation projects can connect to the National Electricity Market (NEM). To achieve this, the Technical Lead - Transmission is responsible for identifying, developing, and assessing project options, business case inputs and proponents' bids, as well as recruiting and managing a high performing team to develop technical input and deliverables. This role will effectively and efficiently manage external advisors, consultants, and contractors in relation to relevant scope and deliverables, and ensure compliance with appropriate technical, work health & safety, environment, budget, time, statutory and quality requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified civil, structural and/or electrical engineer with extensive industry experience managing the development and delivery of large and sophisticated transmission projects through various stages of the project lifecycle. You will ideally have developed the concept design for energy projects and have knowledge of the relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines which govern the design, construction and environmental assessment of complex engineering and transmission projects. Knowledge of the PLS-CADD suite including POLE, TOWER would also be desirable.
