We are seeking to establish a pool of Kindergarten to Year 2 (K-2) Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character-limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed at the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

The School
Narrogin Primary School (PS) is located within the Wheatbelt South regional centre of Gnarojin, Narrogin, on Wilman Boodjar, with a population of about 5,000. The school has strong partnerships with the local community and organisations, with an emphasis on pastoral care and health and wellbeing for staff and students.

The Role
We are looking for innovative and dedicated teachers to join our established team. A strong knowledge of the WA Curriculum, Early Years Learning Framework, and National Quality Standards is essential. Suitable applicants should ideally plan and teach in a collaborative environment with highly developed competencies in differentiating the curriculum. A high level of professional skill, driven by a commitment to high-performance teaching and learning, is expected. Key attributes include being collaborative, flexible, a proactive team member with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, and a conscientious and diligent approach to the role.
Experience with evidence-based programs, including the effective use of daily reviews in literacy and numeracy, is highly regarded. A passion for play-based, hands-on learning—balanced with explicit instruction across all curriculum areas—is vital. Knowledge of cognitive science, science of reading, and explicit instruction will be a strong advantage, coupled with a commitment to Teaching for Impact principles to ensure every student experiences success. Applicants should be open to participating in a culture of observation and feedback, recognizing its value for professional growth and improved student outcomes. A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice is essential to support wellbeing and learning.

Mobility appointments
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school, may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the end of the mobility period, teachers can return to their substantive role or transfer permanently into this school. Check eligibility on IKON. Note: South West teachers are not eligible to move to another South West school under this trial.

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment

* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start
