About the Role This role plays a key function in road maintenance and construction operations, supporting the bitumen sealing program through the safe and skilled operation of a bitumen sprayer vehicle. We are looking for a 1x bitumen sprayer and a 1x plant operator and 1x roadworker/linemarker working at Narrandera & Hay depots, the position offers the chance to contribute directly to long-term infrastructure outcomes across rural NSW. Ideal for experienced drivers with dangerous goods and HC licences, the role involves both plant operation and general roadworks labouring. $45.69/hour super 8.5 hours/day, 76 hours/fortnight, 9-day fortnight Contract length: 3 months, high potential for extension depending on the project. Tickets: White Card WOF (Workplace of Fitness/Function) HR Driver’s Licence or above Police Check (can commence before clearance; subject to termination if adverse findings arise) Camping Away: Required during sealing season (Aug–Apr) Accommodation & LAFHA: Provided while away from depot Key Responsibilities Safely operate a truck-mounted bitumen spray plant on regional roadworks Perform general labouring and road maintenance tasks across varied worksites Conduct safety inspections and routine maintenance on vehicles and small plant Ensure all plant records, fluid checks, and maintenance logs are accurate and up-to-date Apply safe work procedures in line with WHS legislation and organisational policies Follow environmental protocols and dispose of waste materials appropriately Lead or guide small teams where needed to ensure task completion and safety standards Read and interpret construction plans and specs to meet quality benchmarks Travel and camp away when required during peak sealing seasons About You Prior experience operating a bitumen sprayer or similar heavy road construction vehicles Physically fit and able to undertake manual tasks in outdoor environments Sound understanding of WHS, maintenance procedures and roadwork safety standards Willingness to work away from home and travel regionally for extended periods Strong team collaboration and self-management skills Full PPE is required to ensure safety Must have full Australian working rights – Citizen, PR, or valid long-term visa holders only A satisfactory police check is required (can commence before clearance, subject to termination if adverse findings arise) As a mandatory requirement for this contract role required by our client, applicants are kindly asked to complete a compliance check and upload their work rights verification at www.charterdiligence.com.au/portal. Carry out mechanical fitting and repairs ( Fitter / Welder ) Operate a range of heavy and light plant and machinery on worksites (Road Workers / Bridge Workers / Plant Operators) – including: (Roller, Grader, Excavator, Skid Steer, Water Cart, Backhoe, Flocon, Bitumen Sprayer, Concrete Mixer, Drum Roller) Perform general labouring duties such as site preparation, material handling, and cleanup (Road Workers / Bridge Workers / Carpenters) Execute road and bridge construction and maintenance works, including bitumen laying, pothole patching, concreting, and structural repairs (Road Workers / Bridge Workers) Carry out bridge-specific maintenance including repairs to steel, timber, and concrete elements (Bridge Workers / Carpenters) Undertake formwork, falsework, and timber structures for bridge works and civil infrastructure (Carpenters) Install, replace, and maintain road signage, barriers and linemarking in line with work plans (Road Workers) Operate MR or HR class vehicles to transport crew, plant, materials, and equipment (MR/HR Truck Drivers / Plant Operators) Conduct traffic control and implement Traffic Management Plans where required (Road Workers / Traffic Control Ticket Holders) Travel with crews to regional and remote sites, ensuring safe transport and job delivery (All Field Roles) Supervise small work crews or contractors onsite as required (Leading Hand / Ganger Roles) Maintain daily safety and operational records including pre-starts, SWMS, and plant logs (All Roles / Project Quality Representatives) Manage stock and materials at depot locations, including issuing and receiving tools, PPE, and equipment (Storepersons) Provide rail protection and lookout services in ARTC corridors, ensuring strict adherence to rail safety protocols (Rail Protection Officers) Support the maintenance of traffic signalling systems and associated infrastructure (Traffic Signal Technicians) Apply HSEQ frameworks across all tasks, ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and promoting safety (Project Quality Reps / HSE Advisors / Work Assistants) Follow WHS procedures and foster a strong culture of safety, accountability and care for mates on-site (All Roles) Application Process Important: Due to the high volume of applications and the limited submission timeframe, we may not be able to contact all applicants.
