About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of BEE's engineering projects. This new role will oversee risk related to budgeting, cost control, procurement, contract negotiations and maintain client relationships across BEE's project portfolio to ensure that projects are delivered within financial parameters and contractual obligations.
This new role will be part of the senior leadership team, focusing on the management of commercial risk for the business. The Commercial Manager will be expected to contribute to the strategic direction of the business and be involved in the continuous improvement of processes to manage risk and upskill the team.
Responsibilities
* Maintain comprehensive commercial registers of variations and claims, delays, instructions, etc.
* Manage, develop and oversee the implementation of financial and commercial strategies
* Identify, prepare and negotiate claims and variations and provide notices where necessary
* Provide robust financial analysis to identify potential cost‐saving opportunities and forecast future project expenses
* Preparation of all monthly management accounts and quarterly re‐forecasts
* Proactively identify financial and contractual risks, develop risk mitigation, and implement contingency plans and strategies
* Provide commercial leadership, advice and support to project teams and key stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with all procurement policies and contractual obligations
* Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure contract compliance
* Contribute as a key member of the senior leadership team, influencing strategic decision making and strengthening commercial capability across the business
Requirements
* Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or any other related fields
* 5+ years of commercial experience in the construction or engineering services industries
* Experience working with D&C or PPP contracts is preferred
* Experience in coaching others in commercial best practice
Skills
* Ability to negotiate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and other professionals to manage project costs and contractual matters
* Good at problem‐solving and perform well in high‐pressure situations
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to form strong relationships with clients, contractors, stakeholders and other engineering‐related professionals
