About the Opportunity
BAE Systems Australia is seeking a Commercial Manager to support the Surface Ships line of business, primarily the ANZAC Class ships and other weapon systems. The role involves working closely with the Commercial team to ensure the best commercial outcomes for the customer and the business while supporting the Australian Defence Forces.
Location: Henderson WA, Osborne Shipyard SA or Bourke St Vic Offices. The position is flexible, open to hybrid work and a 9‐day fortnight arrangement.
Responsibilities
* Support all contract activity including drafting and negotiating complex terms and conditions, and associated agreements with customers.
* Draft moderately complex contracts/agreements under minimal supervision.
* Assist in Contract and Bid Status Reviews to justify, explain, and clear ongoing commercial contract activities.
* Accountable for day‐to‐day management of contracts within the relevant BAE Systems Australia businesses.
* Responsible for all commercial aspects of business winning.
* Manage contract activities, including negotiation of contract changes and management of claims.
* Ensure delivery of contract budgets.
* Address the business's financial and commercial exposures through appropriate commercial contract frameworks such as export controls, finance, product safety, insurance, and intellectual property rights.
* Provide commercial interface with Procurement/Supply Chain and flow‐down of commercial contract requirements.
* Support all commercial agreements and deliver Commercial Management Plans.
* Support and develop junior team members.
* Prepare and deliver negotiating strategies and lead negotiating teams.
Qualifications and Experience
* Extensive experience in a commercial role, preferably within an engineering environment.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications.
* Strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Knowledge of commercial skills and the commercial role.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to lead or support moderately complex negotiations.
* Capability to resolve complex problems lacking routine solutions.
* Leadership and guidance of a team, able to work independently with little supervision.
* Computer literacy, intermediate knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with SharePoint and Oracle is desirable.
* Eligibility to hold and maintain Defence Security Clearance.
* International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance may influence suitability based on nationality.
Clearances
A Defence Security Clearance is required for this role. Applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances.
