Job Description:
An Education Support position at this level performs tasks in accordance with established guidelines, accepted practices, and school policies under supervision.
The role involves providing routine support for teachers, including assisting with planning student routines, supporting communication between teachers and parents, and communicating with teachers on routine matters related to students.
The employee will provide basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, such as toileting, meals, and lifting, as well as communicating with students to support their comprehension of basic tasks and information.
In addition, the employee may be required to address immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedure.
The employee will also provide basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting.
The employee may be required to support teachers in the coordination of educational programs independently or under minimal supervision, including rostering and organising the work of a team of aides.
The employee will assist teachers with the communication of student outcomes and educational programs.
Additionally, the employee may be required to provide medical intervention support to students under specific conditions with appropriate training and guidance.
The employee will provide specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as Auslan and braille.
