Position Objective
The Inclusion Support Assistant applies specialist knowledge and experience to provide targeted
support to students in accordance with their individual abilities. Support may be delivered within the
classroom setting and through individual or small-group interventions outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
* Assist with appropriate student learning either individually or in groups
* Provide general assistance to students
* With guidance from the classroom teacher assist developmentally appropriate student learning
and support students in relation to their physical and cognitive needs as required
* Assist teachers and students locate resources
* Assist with supervision during recess and lunch breaks alongside a teacher
* Follow and help to implement the learning program
* Assist in the maintenance of a healthy and safe classroom and school environment and report any
concerns
* Ensure all interactions with children reflect the philosophy and policies of the school
* Understand and work according to the school's policies and procedures
Teacher Support
* Provide general assistance to teaching staff
* Supervise students for a particular curriculum activity under the guidance of a qualified teacher
* Co-ordinate and organise students curricular work under the guidance of the teacher
* Assist in maintaining classroom discipline through the implementation of the schools behaviour
management strategies
* Provide support to students to achieve learning goals
Parent Support
* When requested by teachers, maintain contact with families/carers of children, to keep them
informed of the child's progress
Team work and collaboration
* Work as a LEAP team member and identify opportunities for working with colleagues and sharing
the development of effective practice with them
* Cover for absent colleagues where required
* Demonstrate, give advice and guidance to, or train other employees or trainees on own duties
when applicable
* Work collaboratively with others to develop effective professional relationships
* Communicate effectively with parents/carers with regard to students' well-being
* Communicate and co-operate with relevant external bodies
* Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
Operational Requirement
* Undertake other duties as directed by your supervisors or Business Manager

Essential
1. High-level literacy and numeracy skills
2. High-level collaboration, organisational and time management skills
3. Positive promote the school both within the school community and in the wider community
4. Promote positive home/school partnerships which support student learning and development
5. Engender in students' pride in and commitment to the school
6. Demonstrate the school community's values in all relationships and interactions with students
7. Develop mentoring relationships with students
8. Maintain and enhance a deep understanding of how students develop and learn
Desirable
1. Certificate III in Education Support (or similar)
2. First Aid qualification
3. An ability to integrate and utilise ICT effectively within the classroom
Appointment Conditions
The employee must have the following:
* Working with Children Clearance (WWCC) 'Ochre Card' - employment is conditional on
compliance with the Care and Protection of Children Act (NT) 2007, as amended, and the
accompanying regulations
* National Police Clearance, maintained for the duration of employment.
This job description is intended as a framework for performance review conducted by the Director of Music
who reserves the right to amend roles, responsibilities, and requirements as necessary to meet the operational
needs of the school.
Your performance and remuneration package will be reviewed at three months and again at six months
following commencement. These reviews may or may not result in a salary adjustment, at the discretion of
the Principal.
Superannuation Guarantee contributions at the current rate of 12% will be paid by the school in addition to
salary.
