Overview
Security Project Manager - temporary opportunity until end June 2027, based in Sydney with flexible/hybrid working options. This role is within the NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS) Cyber & Information Security Office (CISO) and focuses on delivering the DCS Cyber Security Strategy to strengthen defences and protect government services.
Base pay and benefits
Base pay range: A$149,739.00/yr – A$173,174.00/yr. Salary grade 11/12 with superannuation (12%). Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams, including network and security specialists and third-party service providers.
- Facilitate workshops to research and address cybersecurity compliance, privacy, and information security challenges.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, and risk across multiple workstreams.
- Coordinate internal teams and vendors to deliver secure network outcomes.
- Develop project implementation plans, procurement documentation, and briefing notes.
- Deliver complex ICT or cybersecurity projects from initiation to closure.
- Apply knowledge of infrastructure and network security concepts across on-premises and cloud (AWS/Azure) environments; align network, cloud, and identity components for secure solutions.
- Collaborate with architects/engineers to translate designs into delivery roadmaps with milestones and dependencies.
- Manage vendors, contracts, and cross-functional teams; engage stakeholders effectively.
- Assess risk, ensure regulatory and compliance alignment, and support financial controls.
- Demonstrate experience in cloud networking concepts (VPC/VNet, gateways, hybrid connectivity) and familiarity with IaC for network provisioning; implement network segmentation and identity-based access models.
- Possess or pursue professional certifications (PRINCE2, PMP, ITIL, CCNA, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent) and experience in government or regulated environments.
