Position Profile:

This recruitment pool will be utilised to fill vacancies at Royal Perth Hospital, Bentley Health Service and Armadale Health Service. In August 2026, Mount Lawley Hospital will also be coming under East Metropolitan Health Service, and this pool may be utilised to fill vacancies there.

Role Overview:

We are seeking calm and confident individuals to join our team as a Security Officer. If you are comfortable communicating with people at all levels and asking questions and relaying critical information to clinical staff on the legal requirements of patients being held in the hospital, we encourage you to apply. You will have the ability to use empty hand techniques in a controlled manner to safely restrain patients and visitors, if required. You will also be able to prioritise tasks when they are coming into the control room to be able to direct the mobile Security Team to the most critical incidents first whilst ensuring you communicate to the areas of the hospital that require assistance from Security.

Most new staff will join as casual and, when permanent vacancies become available, we can offer an annualised salary with an average payment of penalties each fortnight and we offer a 4 on (2 day shifts and 2 night shifts) and 5 days off which enables you to have a better work‐life balance.

This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time and Casual appointments with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Eligibility to Apply:

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).

Our hospital network works together to provide a combination of tertiary, secondary and specialist health care services including emergency and critical care, state trauma, elective and emergency surgery, general medical, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services, aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation and women's, children's and neonates services.

The EMHS consists of Royal Perth Hospital; Armadale Health Service; Bentley Health Service; Kalamunda Hospital; St John of God Midland Public Hospital and a range of community and population health services.

Selection Criteria:

* Certificate II in Security Operations or at least two years' experience in security or related field and demonstrate experience in the conduct of security operations.
* Demonstrated, verbal and non‐verbal communication skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, empathy and de‐escalation techniques in stressful situations.
* Effective written communication skills including the ability to produce well‐structured and comprehensive reports.
* Demonstrated experience in dealing with people from a culturally diverse background and people with disabilities.
