Job Description
The role of a Community Engagement Officer is to foster positive relationships between the Magistrates' Court and the Aboriginal community.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing culturally appropriate services to Koori offenders and families;
* Assisting the Court on cultural issues that affect Koori people in Victoria;
* Raising awareness within the court system about cross-cultural issues;
* Maintaining links between the Magistrates' Court, the Children's Court, and the Aboriginal community;
* Liaising with the Aboriginal community to inform them about court processes.
This position requires someone with a deep understanding of cultural issues affecting Koori communities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective liaison with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in data collection, reporting, and maintaining records is also necessary. A current driver's license is required for travel between court locations.
