The opportunity
Our Facilities & Infrastructure leadership team are seeking an experienced Community Services Section Manager to drive success and foster a dynamic, collaborative environment amongst both our internal service providers and the community of Port Stephens.
Reporting directly to the Director – Facilities and Infrastructure, you’ll play a critical role in the Community Services leadership group, providing clear direction in alignment with Council’s Strategic Plan. You will provide leadership to a diverse group of leaders covering; Children’s Services, Waste Management, Property and Facilities Management, Library Services, and Volunteer Management.

* Manage, lead and develop staff
* Contract management for surf life guards, aquatic centre management, bush fire asset protection zone management, and waste services
* Oversight of council’s commercial property portfolio and licencing of open spaces and community halls
* Strategic leadership of Council’s children’s services and libraries to deliver outputs and outcomes valued by our community in the best possible way.
This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week

* A degree qualification in open spaces, community services, recreation facilities, waste management and/or a related field and relevant industry experience
* Demonstrated experience in managing change and leading multi-disciplinary teams who have a wide range of qualifications, experience and skill levels

* Strong financial acumen
