Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office). Roles And Responsibilities - The position includes working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards. - Perform the detailed P&C; design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but are not limited to: - One-line diagrams - P&C; equipment selection - Protection and control schematics - Wiring diagrams - SCADA - Communications - Material lists - Conduit and cable sizing/routing - AC and DC systems calculations and sizing - Engineering Documentation such as Requests for Information (RFIs), Scope Documents, Equipment Specifications, Protection and Control Descriptions, and Construction Specifications - Work with engineers to develop drawing packages - Coordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Physical, Structural, and Civil - Participation in quality assurance and quality control programs - Contribute to engineering project scheduling and budget management Required Education/Experience - Associate's degree or equivalent technical education - Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation; experience with both is preferred - Understanding of protection and control design - Electrical reasoning skills and attention to detail - Good command of the Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word - The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel - Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship Desired Education/Experience - Three (3) or more years' experience in utility substation design is preferred - Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes - Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and such - Ability to select materials based on technical requirements POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
