About The Role
At Tomago Aluminium, our people are transforming the business for a sustainable future. We offer a career of reward and growth, with a current vacancy for a Laboratory Technical Officer. The primary purpose of this role is to provide a timely and accurate analytical service to ensure ongoing quality and reliability of plant operations. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, covering diverse areas of work including spectrographic, raw materials and environment.
This is primarily a daywork role but shift work will be required at times to meet business needs.
This is a part time 3 days per week for a period of 12 months.
Principal Accountabilities
* Sample collection from onsite and offsite (Kooragang Bulk Facilities)
* Registration of samples.
* Preparation of samples using various sub-sampling and crushing equipment.
* Perform a variety of physical and chemical tests on the raw materials used in the aluminium making process.
* Operating x-ray fluorescence, x-ray diffraction and density instruments.
* Test, maintain and calibrate equipment
Selection Criteria:
* Current drivers' licence
* Diploma or degree in chemistry or equivalent
* Demonstrated report writing skills
* An understanding of working in a NATA accredited laboratory
* Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated computer skills (including Excel)
* Demonstrated experience to report and present information
* Ability to work shift work when required.
