Work Hours
The successful applicant will work up to 73.5 hours per fortnight with flexible options available.
Main Responsibilities
1. Supervise and coordinate the Financial Operations team to provide timely and effective finance services, offering advice to management and staff on finance-related matters.
2. Leverage in-depth knowledge of the Department's accounting operations to represent its best interests and address client inquiries regarding financial compliance and legislation requirements.
3. Mentor and evaluate financial operations staff, focusing on policies, procedures, and internal controls. Provide training and assess competencies within the team.
4. Oversee the development and maintenance of financial operations policies and procedures.
5. Promote a strong team culture within the financial reporting and operations team.
6. Engage with debtors and creditors to ensure timely processing of expenditure and revenue.
7. Perform debtor and creditor account reconciliations, process receipts and banking, and manage the Departmental Debtors Register, including follow-up on outstanding debts.
8. Prepare reports and correspondence to assist staff, debtors, and creditors with inquiries.
9. Maintain registers and databases, and prepare statistical and routine reports for finance activities.
10. Assist with compliance processes, including Business Activity Statement, Fringe Benefits Tax, and Taxable Payments Annual Reporting.
11. Perform other duties within the capacity, qualifications, and experience expected at this classification level.
Desirable Qualifications
Completion or progression towards a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Management is desirable.
