We are seeking a compassionate and motivated individual to join our Grounds Team as a Cemetery Worker.


Job Description

The role involves maintaining existing gardens, including lawns, shrub and tree pruning, weed control, fertilising, reticulation and hardscaping. You will be supported within a tight knit team to ensure the overall appearance of the cemetery remains at an impeccable standard.

The job will also involve the digging of graves within the cemetery and other duties for which full training will be provided.


Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

* Experience in working in a physical outdoor environment.
* Experience in, or the ability and willingness to learn, the use of horticultural equipment, and the operation and general maintenance of horticultural machinery.
* Knowledge of and ability to undertake safe work practices, and to use correct manual handling techniques.
* Good communication skills and ability work effectively within a team.
* C Class Drivers Licence (Automatic or Manual), or a (Motor Vehicle) Learners Permit and progression towards C Class Drivers
* Commitment to honest and ethical work practices and behaviour.
* Basic level of computer literacy using Microsoft Windows.
* Hold a MR Licence.

Deseirable:

* Relevant Trade Certificate e.g. Certificate III in Horticulture.
* 4 years relevant and accumulated experience; and Assessed as meeting the job requirements.
* Ability to work in a flexible team environment.
* Experience in a physical outdoor environment, including experience in, or the aptitude to learn, the operation of horticultural machinery and its general maintenance.
* Knowledge of and ability to undertake safe work practices and use correct manual handling techniques.
* Sound interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate sensitively and the ability to deliver high standards of customer service.
* Show initiative, self-motivation and the ability to work productively unsupervised.
* C Class Driver's Licence (Automatic or Manual).
* Basic level of computer literacy including Microsoft Windows and Internet use.
* Commitment to honest and ethical work practices and behaviour.
* Basic knowledge of reticulation operation and maintenance.
* Experience in general maintenance / construction duties – e.g. bricklaying, brick paving, grano work.
* Hold a MR Licence
