Role Overview
SP Data Centres is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Consultant to provide client‐side EHS leadership across one of Australia's largest hyperscale data‐centre developments. Based in Mickleham, this role oversees safety assurance from early works and piling through to commissioning, ensuring all delivery partners meet the highest standards of safety governance, compliance, and performance.
You will act as the owner's representative for EHS, driving consistency across multiple Tier‐1 and Tier‐2 contractors, embedding best‐practice systems, and ensuring safe delivery of a multi‐stage, high‐complexity technical build.
Key Responsibilities
* Client‐side safety governance — implement and enforce the project's EHS framework across all contractors and workfronts.
* Construction phase oversight — monitor piling, civils, structure, MEP installation, fit‐out, and commissioning activities.
* Risk management — lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and critical‐risk control verification.
* Assurance & auditing — conduct site inspections, compliance audits, and contractor performance reviews.
* Incident management — support investigations, root‐cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
* Stakeholder coordination — interface with SP Data Centres, builders, subcontractors, and commissioning teams.
* Reporting & governance — prepare dashboards, lead indicators, and executive‐level safety updates.
* Safety culture leadership — promote proactive behaviours and embed a "zero harm" mindset across site teams.
Required Experience
* Proven background in construction EHS, ideally on hyperscale, industrial, infrastructure, or complex MEP‐heavy projects.
* Experience working client‐side or as a safety lead across multiple contractors.
* Strong understanding of Victorian WHS legislation, critical‐risk management, and high‐risk construction activities.
* Demonstrated capability in assurance, governance, auditing, and contractor management.
* Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive safety outcomes in a fast‐paced environment.
Qualifications
* Diploma or Degree in Work Health & Safety, OHS, Engineering, or related field.
* Cert IV WHS minimum (Diploma preferred).
