Participate in a range of tasks including specimen reception activities, specimen registrations, receipt and prioritisation, preanalytical processing and distribution and technical duties as required.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated basic knowledge and skill in virological or microbiological techniques particularly molecular based techniques.
Demonstrate technical competence in the use of common computer software packages and knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of laboratory information systems.
Ability to perform routine and more complex technical procedures, as required, with mínimal supervision commensurate with level of experience.
Ability to work harmoniously with others in multidisciplinary teams and actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour
Demonstrate a commitment to, and engagement in personal skilled development and training activities.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
The successful applicant must hold at least an Associate Diploma (generally prior to 2000) or a Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) qualification (Post 2000) in an eligible discipline.
Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties
All newly appointed staff are engaged with the understanding that they will be required to participate in an On-Call roster and may be required to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required.
