Professional Officer Class 1 (Forester)
Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of Permanency
Details: Join the ACT Parks and Conservation Service's Forest Management team and help shape the future of sustainable forestry in the ACT.
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative forestry professional to fill a temporary vacancy at the Professional Officer Class 1 (PO1). In this role, you will play a key part in delivering forestry programs that support the ACT community and environment.
You will bring experience in silviculture, roading, harvesting or GIS across the full forest lifecycle—from nursery to final crop—and a strong understanding of Pinus radiata management. Your ability to work respectfully with Traditional Custodians and ecological experts to integrate cultural and environmental values into forest practices will be highly valued.
* Appointment to the position is conditional upon successful completion of a nationally recognized firefighting task-based fitness assessment.
* Able to work legally in Australia.
* Have a valid driver's licence.
* Previous experience in Forestry Contract Management.
* Work on a shift roster, including weekends, public holidays, or evenings as needed.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of 11 months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency.
Part‐time hours across five working days can be considered (e.g. to accommodate school drop‐off and pick‐up times).
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
