As a Principal Planner, you will lead major development assessments, represent the council legally, provide expert planning advice, and drive continuous improvements in planning services.
Key Responsibilities
* Expertise in Development Assessments: Utilize extensive NSW development assessment experience to guide complex applications through the process.
* Court Representation: Provide authoritative testimony in court proceedings, leveraging deep knowledge of environmental planning laws.
* Team Leadership: Mentor and guide development assessment staff, fostering growth among team members.
* Policy Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine policies that promote sustainable development.
* Planning Panel Participation: Attend planning panels and prepare high-quality reports and advice, communicating complex planning concepts to stakeholders.
You'll Be Expected to Bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or a related field.
* Extensive NSW development assessment experience.
* Deep knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
* Experience as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court.
* Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and mediation skills.
* Ability to prioritize and solve complex planning challenges.
* A collaborative, proactive approach to improvement.
