About the role
The fitter and turner will be responsible for carrying out efficient and cost-effective mechanical fitting, maintenance and minor new works/projects within the West Moreton Health District.
About you
- Experience and knowledge relating to the installation and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment, in single and multi-storey buildings similar to large, major health care facilities, including:
- Repairs to beds, wheelchairs, trolleys
- Minor fabrication
- Maintenance of building plant, including boilers, sterilisers with incorporated steam generators, and other machinery.
- Ability to prioritise works, projects and timeframes, manage costs and make responsible and accurate recommendations, to produce an effective work output in terms of both quality and quantity, without supervision.
- Ability to effectively investigate problems, provide options and implement suitable solutions.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team or individually, and experience managing service contractors and/or interacting, communicating and negotiating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Possession of a Certificate III in Engineering (Fitting and/or Turning) or equivalent Queensland recognised trade qualification as a fitter and turner, and a General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
