C. Key Objectives, Duties and Responsibilities:Volunteers can assist with a variety of duties, including but not limited to:• Library Support: Assist with the delivery and organisation of books, magazines, and reading materials for staff, patients and visitors.• Maternal & Child Health Support: Provide assistance and support to parents, caregivers, and families with young children during appointments or activities.• Oncology Department: Offer a listening ear or companionship to patients in oncology, assist with non-clinical tasks, and provide comfort and support.• Medical Ward: Support patients by delivering reading materials, providing friendly visits.• Palliative Care: Offer companionship and comfort to patients and families in palliative care, ensuring that their needs are met in a compassionate and sensitive manner.• Flower Arranging: Help organise and arrange fresh flowers for patient rooms or hospital spaces, enhancing the aesthetic environment and providing a cheerful atmosphere.• Delivery of Newspapers, Magazines, and Books: Distribute reading materials to patient rooms, ensuring that patients and visitors have access to up-to-date publications.• Campus Navigation Assistance: Help patients, visitors, and staff navigate the hospital campus, offering directions and assistance to ensure a smooth and positive experience.• One-to-One Chats: Engage in friendly conversations with patients, visitors, and staff to provide support, comfort, and companionship.• Assisting with Tea, Coffee, and Refreshments: Serve refreshments to patients and visitors, including tea, coffee, and light snacks, ensuring that individuals are comfortable and cared for.E. Life Skills, Experience and Qualifications• Current Fit2work clearance• If applicable current working with vulnerable people and working with children clearance• Empathy and Compassion: A caring nature and a desire to support patients, visitors, and staff.• Good Communication Skills: Ability to engage with people in a friendly, approachable, and supportive manner.• Organisational Skills: Ability to assist with the delivery of materials, maintaining areas, and managing time effectively.• Ability to Work as Part of a Team: Collaborate effectively with hospital staff, other volunteers, and the public.• Patience and Sensitivity: Particularly in palliative care and oncology settings, volunteers should be sensitive to the needs of patients and families facing difficult circumstances.Companionship & Social Support, Disability Support, Library Services, Seniors & Aged Care Commitment Regular - less than 6 months Training Training and Compliance: • Mandatory Annual Training: All volunteers are required to attend annual training sessions to stay up to date on CGH policies, procedures, and relevant safety and privacy regulations. • Compliance with Policies and Procedures: Volunteers must adhere to all organisational policies and procedures, including confidentiality, health and safety guidelines, and patient interaction protocols Time required Flexible days and hours to suit the volunteer.
