Overview
DP World is seeking an operationally focused safety leader to oversee all HSSE functions at our Fremantle Terminal. Responsible for driving on-the-ground safety performance across terminal, this role ensures compliance with regulatory and customer standards while embedding practical, risk-based safety systems.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert HSSE advice to operations management on serious and high-potential incidents, including regulatory notifiable events with potential litigation implications.
* Deliver technical guidance to line management to ensure operational risks are proactively identified, assessed, and controlled.
* Ensure full compliance with HSSE legislation, standards, and company policies.
* Implement, maintain, and continuously improve HSSE management systems aligned with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 28000.
* Support internal and external audits, assurance programs, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
* Drive a positive HSSE culture through visible leadership, training programs, and workforce engagement initiatives.
* Consult with the workforce on safety issues including change management and new technologies.
* Lead and coordinate incident investigations, ensure regulatory notifications, and oversee return-to-work programs.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance both HSSE performance and operational efficiency.
* Develop and manage the HSSE budget, optimising resource allocation and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety, security, or environmental standards.
* Analyse HSSE data, monitor trends, and report performance metrics to senior management.
* Lead, mentor, and develop HSSE team members across the terminal, fostering capability, accountability, and operational excellence.
* Lead environmental initiatives to minimise operational impact, including waste reduction, resource efficiency, and pollution prevention programs.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety, and Environment (Degree or Diploma) is desirable.
* Internal Auditor certification (highly regarded).
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar HSE role, ideally within logistics, mining or offshore industries.
* Extensive experience in HSSE management, including audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
* Proficient in HSE management systems and regulatory reporting.
* In-depth knowledge of OHS&E legislation, Dangerous Goods regulations, and company policies.
* Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Practical, hands-on approach suited to fast-paced, operational environments.
* High attention to detail and strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication, coaching, and facilitation skills.
