Remuneration
Package valued up to $182,461 + incentives. Base salary ranges from $101,122 to $160,983 with leave loading and employer superannuation contributions. Rural and remote incentives up to $30,000 may be applicable.
Position Information
Full Time: 1.0 FTE (Full-time equivalent)
Location: Griffith Public School
Commencing: 20 July 2026
FTE Range: Open to full time or part time (0.1 to 0.9 FTE). Applicants seeking part time will be offered appointment at desired FTE.
About the Role
School psychologists provide counselling and psychological assessment to students, enhance teachers' work, and support student learning and wellbeing. This role offers opportunities for professional development and impactful work across primary and high school students in a rural setting.
Supervision is provided by a Senior Psychologist Education and group supervision within the school counselling team. Collaboration with school staff, outside agencies, and families is essential.
Professional development opportunities are available. NSW Department of Education supports registration with the Psychology Board and offers leave, recreation, flex leave, travel allowances, health benefits, a fitness passport, and indemnity insurance.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups, including short‐term therapeutic interventions.
* Engage with and implement the Professional Practice Framework procedures for the NSW School Counselling Service.
* Consult with the principal, staff and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
* Contribute to the social, emotional, and academic development of students and support those with complex behavioural needs.
* Administer cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments, report results, and collaborate to improve outcomes.
* Collaborate with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and other agencies to develop appropriate school‐based support.
* Respond as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
* Refer students or families to external agencies to support health and wellbeing outcomes.
Essential Requirements
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy, NSW AECG Inc. Partnership Agreement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.
* General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Valid, current Working with Children Check (WWCC) – NSW.
* Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel between work sites.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
