About the Role
The Metallurgy Technician role supports Zinc Processing operations at Mount Isa Mines, providing hands‐on technical assistance to ensure optimal plant performance and process reliability. This position is responsible for maintaining and operating process control and sampling equipment, as well as supporting metallurgical test work and plant improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain process control and sampling equipment
* Manage calibration and upkeep of on‐line analysers and associated systems
* Conduct equipment inspections and ensure operational reliability
* Manage spare parts and liaise with vendors as required
* Assist with metallurgical test work and plant performance analysis
* Support ongoing plant metallurgy activities and improvement initiatives
* Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
About You – Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have hands‐on experience within a mining or processing environment, with exposure to metallurgical testing and plant operations. You will be technically capable, detail‐oriented, and proactive in identifying improvement opportunities. The role suits someone who thrives in a practical, site‐based environment and enjoys working closely with operations and technical teams to improve plant performance.
What You Will Bring
* Minimum 3+ years' experience in mining or processing operations
* Experience with metallurgical test work and plant sampling processes
* Familiarity with on‐line analysers (e.g. MSA, OSA, PSI)
* Basic data analysis capability
* Strong problem‐solving and continuous improvement mindset
* Solid computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office
* Ability to work collaboratively within a technical team environment
