Prince of Peace Lutheran College is a K-12 co-educational, independent, Christian school located at Everton Hills in the north-western suburbs of Brisbane. The College was established by the Prince of Peace Lutheran Congregation in 1984 to provide quality Christian education to the children of the community.

Prince of Peace Lutheran College offers classes on two sites from Kindergarten to Year 12 with approximately 660 students enrolled. The Junior Campus (K-6) is located at Rogers Parade West. The Middle and Senior Campus, is 1 km away, at Henderson Road, and was opened in July 2009 and is home to Years 7-12.

This full-time, 5 year contract, with generous working conditions, is available for commencement in January 2026.

The Deputy Head of Junior Campus supports the Head of Campus in leading the strategic, operational, and educational direction of the Junior Campus.

This role requires a balanced focus on:

· Organisational leadership to ensure smooth campus operations

· Pastoral Care leadership to foster a safe and respectful learning setting

· Pedagogical leadership to promote high-quality teaching and learning

The Deputy Head of Junior Campus will use data-informed decision-making and evidence-based pedagogies to support student wellbeing, staff development, and continuous improvement across the campus.

The College has a commitment to and is developing a Restorative Practices approach. This approach is in keeping with the Christian Gospel and the biblical principles found in Matthew 18. This position will have the special responsibility of continuing to uphold and embed the principles of Restorative Practices in all aspects of the operation of the P-6 Campus.

The Deputy Head of Campus Years P-6 will also deputise for the Head of Campus P-6 as necessary.

The Deputy Head of Campus P-6 will:

· Assume responsibility for pastoral care and welfare of students and staff in Years P-6.

· Assist the Head of Campus P-6 in whole campus visioning, strategic planning, and evaluation.

· Provide leadership, coordination and oversight to the College’s P-6 Learning Support program in collaboration with the College Leadership Team.

· Organise key events for Years P-6 as required.

· Assist in developing the teaching and learning on the campus.

· Ensure that the principles of Lutheran education and Restorative Practices are embedded within the curriculum and College policies, programs and practices.

· As delegated, take responsibility for the Campus in the absence of the Head of Campus.

· Be an active member of the Executive Leadership Team.

· Undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time as directed from the Head of College.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Demonstrated skills which reflect commitment to, and understanding of, the Christian ethos of the College and how it influences Pastoral Care (this may include):

· Demonstrated ability to lead children in Christian worship

· Willingness to contribute to the maintenance of the Christian based caring atmosphere of the College

· Ability to maintain a positive focused, well-managed teaching environment with a high standard of pastoral care using Restorative Practices

· Your own faith journey and commitment to the Christian faith

2. Demonstrated ability to deliver warm, caring relationships with students while keeping students accountable and maintaining a positive, focused learning environment. This may include:

· An understanding of the particular needs of young people and demostrated skills in meeting these needs in the context of the classroom and in pastoral care programmes.

· Understanding of/experience in the management of student behaviour/pastoral care programmes beyond that required by a normal classroom teacher (preferred).

· Understanding and experience in Restorative Practices (preferred but not essential).

· Experience in student counselling.

· Experience in conflict/dispute resolution.

3. Demonstrated strategic capabilities in areas such as:

· Curriculum Development and Management

· Goal-setting and achievement of those goals
