The Office of Minister Suzanne Orr is seeking to fill an adviser role in the Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water portfolio. This diverse role would suit a highly motivated individual with previous experience as an adviser and/or relevant policy role. The ideal applicant will have a passion for progressive government and the environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to gain understanding of diverse topics quickly and thrive in a fast-paced working environment are essential. Minister Orr is responsible for a diverse combination of portfolios spanning: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs; Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water; Disability, Carers and Community Services; and Seniors and Veterans. Work across these portfolios relies on working closely with other ministerial offices’, the community and a range of stakeholders. Eligibility/Other requirements: Under broad direction, analyse policy issues and advice to ensure alignment with ACT Government priorities, and identify political issues in the portfolio areas of Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including in government, the NGO sector and the wider community. Prepare high quality written documents in a variety of forms including advice, correspondence and speeches. Working closely with other policy advisers, communication advisers and the Chief of Staff to support and provide input into longer term planning, strategy development, and policy review for the Minister and the Government. Provide policy and political advice on Legislative Assembly business relevant to the portfolio, such as private member’s motions and private member’s bills.
