We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2026.

The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will under teacher direction, assist in the education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Education assistants will assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills including the operation of computers and digital technologies.
Suitable applicants should display a commitment to working collaboratively and building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community. Applicants should be motivated to assist students to grow through the development of their academic achievement, social and communicative skills, and engage in positive behaviour support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential.
- Implement Individual Education plans, Behaviour Support Plans, and support students daily living requirements.
- Provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in evaluating the achievement of individual education goals.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs.
- Demonstrated positive organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
Eligibility
To work with us, you must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
