Senior Policy Officer – NSW Small Business Commission
Grade : Clerk Grade 9/10
Salary range: $120,859 - $133,183 + superannuation and leave loading
Role Type: Full-Time/ Temporary for 12 months with a strong possibility of extension

Location : Parramatta (There is an expectation for 3 days per week onsite at Parramatta)

As a key advocate for small businesses across NSW the Commission aims to ensure small business needs are front-of-mind for NSW Government decisions, support and assistance. The Commission also plays an important role in connecting small businesses, councils and industry groups to vital information and support services.
4. Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence-based options, and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks
5. Identify and lead strategic responses to emerging issues, and provide expert policy advice and information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate the appropriate interpretation and implementation of policies and assist the Commission’s advocacy for small businesses
6. Identify and lead strategic responses to emerging issues and provide expert policy advice and information to relevant stakeholders.
7. Provide expert policy advice and project management, including the preparation of reports/policy papers, briefs, submissions.
8. Contribute to the development of policy recommendations and delivery of policy initiatives to support Agency and/or Government policy initiatives.
9. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to, the identification and development of policy solutions and to inform policy decision-making.
10. Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and/or implementation of policies to identify issues and ensure the achievement of desired outcomes
To be successful in these roles you will have:
11. Demonstrated past experience in a policy role with understanding of business highly valued.
12. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, experience in responding to correspondence and inquiries from the public, drafting briefs, policy papers, submissions and research reports.
13. Demonstrated stakeholder engagement experience.
14. Strategic focus and / or technical policy skills (such as background with legal or economic frameworks).
15. Exceptional project management skills and experience.
16. Relevant economic or business qualifications.
