Great Lakes Australia (GLA) is the Australian branch of Great Lakes Insurance SE (GLISE) and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Munich Reinsurance Company.
GLA is authorised by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) to operate as a general insurer in Australia, and by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand to carry on business as a general insurer in New Zealand.
Your job
- Provide advice and direction to intermediaries and Third Party Administrators (TPAs) regarding the handling of complaints
- Ensure that disputes are handled in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and the General Insurance Code of Practice
- Develop and implement a disputes reporting framework to identify and report on trends and root cause issues
- Develop a system that will enable the capturing and reporting of all disputed (IDR and AFCA matters) and declined claims at both MGA/TPA and GLA level
- Jointly undertake with claims reviews of IDR processes and matters at GLA's distribution partners, MGAs and TPAs
- Provide legal advice to GLA and related group entities on the sale and distribution of new products, changes to existing products, new business opportunities, outsourcing, APRA and ASIC licensing related matters, conduct of GLA's direct and MGA insurance operations etc
- Review, prepare and provide legal advice on contracts and agreements to ensure GLA's interests are protected and commercial outcomes are achieved. This includes maintaining control and a library of all agreements and variation agreements for GLA
**Profile**:
- Degree qualified in law or related discipline with a demonstration of continued professional development in legal and compliance
- Previous experience as a Disputes Resolution Officer with an Insurer
- Previous experience working for an insurer receiving escalated complaints from intermediaries
- Ability to respond in writing to complex cases and deal with sensitive issues
- Preference for experience representing the insurer at the external disputes tribunal
- Familiar with the latest legal and AFCA decisions including excellent knowledge of the General Insurance Code of Practice and Insurance Contracts Act and other relevant legislation
