What we are looking for
A Principal / Senior Electronic Warfare (EW) Software Engineer to join our EW modelling and simulation team focused on developing an advanced EW Simulation Capability that ensures superiority in the future EW battlespace.
* Providing and sharing EW domain knowledge and expertise with the team,
* Designing mathematical models of EW systems and concepts,
* Developing prototype software to implement EW concepts in a research and development (R&D) simulation environment,
* Engaging with clients to understand their EW modelling and simulation requirements, and
* Mentoring junior staff to develop their capabilities and EW domain knowledge.
More broadly, we are seeking an engineer, with the following qualities:
* Seeks to collaborate and help others, so that we get the best out of each other and ensure the success of our teams in achieving the client's goals.
* Thoroughly enjoys technical challenges, problem solving and want to keep improving both individually and as part of the team.
* Values and applies high quality software engineering practices that contribute to clean code.
* Seeks the opportunity to grow and develop into a technical and / or team leadership role.
What you will do
* Engage with clients to understand their priorities, goals, and modelling requirements in the EW domain.
* Utilise your EW domain knowledge and modelling and simulation / software engineering experience to propose EW modelling improvements and design mathematical models.
* Develop prototype software that implements the proposed EW modelling improvements as proof-of-concepts within the EW Simulation Capability.
* Develop strategically relevant Defence scenarios using the EW Simulation Capability, and conduct operational analysis studies.
* Analyse the results from operational analysis studies, and capture findings within detailed technical reports and documentation.
* Communicate with Defence stakeholders, delivering impactful demonstrations of EW capabilities modelled within the EW Simulation Capability.
* Mentor and support the development junior staff through EW domain knowledge sharing, pro-active mentoring, and technical / code reviews.
