SharePoint Specialist – Information Technology
Due to increased demand, we are seeking experienced SharePoint Specialists with development and administration skills for a long-term contract (12 months with 2 extensions). The role starts at the beginning of the new financial year.
Overview
The SharePoint Specialist will support, enhance, and evolve the Department's SharePoint and Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms, combining SharePoint administration with custom development to deliver secure and fit‐for‐purpose solutions.
Responsibilities
* Operate autonomously in administration and development activities, including configuration, governance, security, and ongoing maintenance of SharePoint Online and on‐premises environments.
* Design and deliver custom SharePoint Framework (SPFx) components, Power Platform integrations, and workflow automation.
* Produce technical and non‐technical artefacts such as solution designs, technical specifications, configuration documentation, governance models, support procedures, and end‐user guides.
* Collaborate with end users, solution architects, security advisors, and ICT delivery teams to propose, build, test, and operate SharePoint and related Microsoft 365 solutions using lean and agile methods.
* Conduct additional tasks as directed to ensure efficient and cost‐effective delivery of services, including continuous improvement of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 capability.
Skills & Competencies
* Administer, configure and maintain SharePoint Online and on‐premises environments, including site collections, permissions, content types, search, information architecture, and lifecycle management.
* Provide proactive SharePoint governance, ensuring clear definition of roles, policies, and procedures.
* Design and develop custom SharePoint solutions using SPFx (web parts, extensions, site templates and integrations).
* Build and maintain workflow and automation solutions using Power Automate, Power Apps, and related Microsoft 365 capabilities.
* Provide technical support, training and guidance to end users, site owners and ISD staff.
* Develop and maintain technical and non‐technical artefacts.
* Establish productive relationships with business and ICT stakeholders, including solution architects, cyber security advisors and other delivery teams.
Technical Skills
SharePoint Online and Server administration, SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Power Automate, Power Apps, Microsoft 365 (Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online), PowerShell scripting, information architecture, permissions and governance, site provisioning, content migration, identity (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD), REST/Graph API integration, Visual Studio / Visual Studio Code, Git, Agile delivery.
Experience
* Demonstrated experience administering, configuring and supporting SharePoint Online and/or SharePoint on‐premise environments.
* Demonstrated experience developing or supporting SharePoint solutions, including use of SPFx, web parts, extensions, site templates or related development activities.
* Experience with Microsoft 365 collaboration services, including Teams, OneDrive and Exchange Online, and associated integrations.
* Experience using Power Platform capabilities, including Power Automate and/or Power Apps, to support workflow automation and business process improvement.
Requirements
The successful applicant must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) clearance.
