Join a purpose-driven government agency at the forefront of emergency response innovation. This organisation is renowned for its commitment to community safety and operational excellence. With a fleet ranging from Cat 1 tankers to communication vans, vessels, and motorbikes, they're undertaking a major documentation overhaul to support their frontline teams. You'll be embedded in a collaborative, hands-on environment with engineers, senior officers, and technical experts all within reach.

Your new role

As the
Senior Technical Writer,
you'll lead the creation of critical documentation for a diverse range of emergency service vehicles. From writing an operations manual for a flagship tanker to developing inventory standards and recommended practices, your work will directly impact safety and operational readiness.

Day-to-day, you'll:

* Translate complex engineering and compliance requirements into clear, user-friendly documents.
* Collaborate with fleet engineers, operational crews, and procurement teams to validate content.
* Use tools like MS Visio to incorporate visuals and diagrams.
* Research international standards to ensure safety and compliance.
* Potentially visit body builder companies and inspect vehicles firsthand – yes, you might even climb on them
* Manage version control and publishing through systems like TRIM and SharePoint.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your writing will shape how emergency vehicles are operated and maintained across the state.

What you'll need to succeed

* Proven experience as a technical writer, ideally in fleet, emergency services, or high-safety environments.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills – you'll be asking questions, gathering insights, and working across teams.
* Ability to identify and articulate safety risks in documentation.
* Familiarity with MS Visio and document management systems.
* A proactive mindset – this isn't a ChatGPT job; it's a real-world, boots-on-the-ground writing challenge.
* Experience with WHS, Australian Design Rules, and compliance frameworks is highly desirable.

What you'll get in return

* Up to $700/day
, with potential for part-time flexibility.
* Contract until
30 June 2026
, with strong likelihood of extension.
* Work from
Glendenning

* Hybrid work options after onboarding – typically 3–4 days in office once trust is established.
* Flexible hours between
7am and 6pm
.
* Be part of a team that's making a real difference in emergency response capability.
