Treehouse is coming—playful, design‑led, and proudly human. We're building a hotel that feels like a great neighbourhood hangout: warm service, sharp details, and a team culture that's equal parts craft and care. To bring it to life, we're looking for a Director of People Operations to join our pre‑opening leadership team and help shape everything that makes Treehouse feel like Treehouse—starting with the people.
The role
This is a hands‑on, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves role for someone who loves the full lifecycle of people ops—from first "hello" to first day to first promotion. You'll lead recruiting and hiring at pace, build the foundations (policies, systems, onboarding, training), and be a daily culture keeper—setting the tone, protecting the vibe, and creating an environment where people can do the best work of their lives.
What you'll be doing
* Build the team, end to end: workforce planning, sourcing, interviewing, hiring, offers, contracts, and employment checks.
* Create a magnetic candidate experience: warm, clear, fast, and genuinely Treehouse.
* Design onboarding & training: help new hires feel confident, connected, and ready to deliver our brand of service.
* Be the culture keeper: rituals, recognition, communication, engagement—making sure our values show up daily.
* People operations & administration: HR systems, compliance, employee files, scheduling support, letters, reporting, and all the detail work that keeps the engine humming.
* Partner with leaders: coach department heads on hiring, performance, feedback, and team development.
* Support the pre‑opening journey: timelines, budgets, vendor coordination, and readiness plans—bringing order to beautiful chaos.
What we're looking for
* Proven experience leading people operations / HR in hospitality, ideally in lifestyle hotels or similarly culture‑forward brands.
* Pre‑opening experience is strongly desired—you know the pace, the pivots, and the magic of building from zero to open doors.
* A true love of recruiting: you know how to spot potential, build pipelines, and hire for attitude + skill.
* Comfortable operating full‑cycle: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, employee relations, and administration.
* Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and best‑practice compliance.
* A calm, confident operator—organised, responsive, and able to juggle competing priorities without losing the plot (or the smile).
* Warm, people‑first energy. You can be firm and fair, and you care deeply about creating a great place to work.
Why Treehouse?
Because opening a hotel is rare—and opening this hotel is even rarer. You'll have the opportunity to build a team and culture from the ground up, shape how we welcome both guests and colleagues, and leave your signature on Treehouse Adelaide for years to come.
