Your new role
As the QA Manager, you will take a hands-on leadership role ensuring all quality systems and compliance standards are met across both high and low care production environments. You will oversee site audits, regulatory requirements, and certification programs while leading and mentoring the QA team to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
* Develop, implement, and continuously improve QA and food safety management systems aligned with HACCP, GMP and SQF standards to ensure compliance at all stages of the supply chain.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian food safety laws, export regulations, and certification requirements. Ensure all products meet relevant standards and manage documentation for compliance and regulatory submissions.
* Conduct supplier audits and assessments, reviewing documentation, validation, and compliance with food safety standards; work collaboratively with suppliers to resolve issues and improve supply chain quality.
* Lead and coordinate all aspects of food safety programs across manufacturing and importing operations, including risk assessment, hazard analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
* Prepare for and manage internal and external audits, including BRC, SQF/CFMSR, FSC, and regulatory inspections. Address findings promptly and implement corrective actions.
* Foster a culture of food safety awareness and quality excellence through staff training, proactive communication, and leadership.
* Identify opportunities to innovate and optimize quality workflows, reducing waste and enhancing product safety and quality.
* Maintain meticulous records of quality metrics, audit reports, non-conformance incidents, and corrective actions.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a proactive and experienced QA professional with strong exposure to food manufacturing environments.
* Bachelor's degree in food science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
* Proven QA leadership experience in food manufacturing.
* Strong track record managing internal audits.
* Knowledge of retailer requirements and a solid understanding of certification processes such as BRC, SQF, CFMSR, HACCP
* Hands-on leadership style with the ability to influence and drive compliance across the site.
* Experience working across high-care and low-care environments.
