Job Description:
Southern Cross Support Services (SCSS) is a leading Child Safety provider throughout QLD. The Children, Youth & Family Services (CYF) team plays a vital role in ensuring that children and young people are offered a safe and stable environment to reach their goals. CYF work in accordance with the Sanctuary Model of Care framework.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be a positive role model and demonstrate attributes that allow children to feel safe, build resilience, and work towards positive future outcomes.
2. Provide day-to-day care for all children in the residential care setting and participate in appropriate recreational activities for and with the children.
3. Assist children to learn life skills in a planned and supportive way, focusing on their positive behaviors through praise and encouragement.
4. Maintain confidentiality regarding the children's information and history.
5. Ensure the residential care site is clean and well-maintained by undertaking general household tasks, including shopping, cooking, and cleaning.
6. Lead the team and build a positive team culture, prioritizing the delivery of quality services to children and young people.
7. Support the Case Manager with planning, implementing, and managing strategies to meet the needs of children.
8. Ensure all required documentation is completed by the team in a timely manner.
9. Plan and lead team meetings, completing shadow shifts with new team members as required.
10. Delegate tasks within the residential care setting.
11. Complete shift work and in-home sleepovers as necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Flexibility to work across a 7-day/night roster, including shift work, periodic weekends, public holidays, night shifts, and overnight sleepovers.
2. Experience in a similar senior position (desired but not essential).
3. Completion of or enrollment to commence a minimum Certificate 4 qualification in a relevant area (Child, Youth & Family Intervention/Disability/Mental Health/Community Services).
4. Highly developed emotional self-regulation capabilities, including the ability to set and maintain consistent boundaries in a professional setting.
5. Attention to detail and time management skills for client documentation and shift reports.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and web-based applications.
7. Blue Card for Working with Children and NDIS Worker Screening (or Yellow Card).
8. Child Safety and Criminal History Screening – LCS2.
9. Driver's license.
