Our state-of-the-art aged care residential facility nestled in the beautiful Adelaide Hills is seeking an inspiring Head Chef to take charge of our kitchen operations and deliver exceptional dining experiences to our residents.
About the Role
As our Head Chef, you will lead a dedicated kitchen team to create fresh, nutritious, and beautifully presented meals that enhance the wellbeing of our residents. You'll oversee all aspects of kitchen management — from menu development and dietary planning to food safety, budgeting, and staff leadership.
Design and deliver seasonal, diverse, and nutritious menus tailored to residents' dietary needs
* Lead, mentor, and develop a passionate kitchen team
* Ensure all meals are prepared to the highest standard and align with aged care guidelines
* Manage kitchen workflows, stock control, and ordering
* Maintain exceptional food safety and hygiene standards
* Collaborate closely with clinical and lifestyle teams to support resident wellbeing
* Drive innovation in food presentation and service within a modern, well-equipped kitchen
* Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and aged‐care industry standards.
* Support stock control, ordering, and inventory management.
* Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and resident‐focused kitchen environment.
* Experienced and sound understanding of International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI)
About You
You're an experienced Chef with a warm approach and a genuine passion for enriching the lives of older people through food. With excellent communication and leadership skills and an ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
A genuine passion for improving the daily lives of residents through quality food will see you successful in this dynamic and rewarding role.
What you will bring
* Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or equivalent)
* - HLTSS00061 – Food Safety Supervision Skill Set – for community services and health industries; or
* - SITSS00069 – Food Safety Supervision Skill Set
* Knowledge and understanding of the Aged Care Standards, with particular regard to Standard 6 Food and Nutrition
* Up‐to‐date vaccinations
* Current or a willingness to obtain a National Police Clearance (Aged care/Vulnerable)
* Unrestricted Australian working rights are essential for this role.
